The UC Davis West Village project is a dynamic mixed-use community for the college’s students, faculty, and staff. The project, located on UC Davis land, was designed to enable faculty, staff, and students to live near campus, take advantage of environmentally friendly transportation options, and participate fully in campus life. UC Davis West Village is the largest planned zero net energy community in the United States. It is on track to demonstrate, for the first time, that zero net energy is practical on a large scale.
The project developer, CP Construction (Carmel Partners) contracted Kaz & Associates during the 2009-2010 rainy season to provide cost effective construction storm water management and oversight. Since 2010, Kaz & Associates has worked closely with CP Construction during all phases of development to make certain the project activities have been conducted in an sustainable way, as well as minimizing potential pollutant discharges or impacts to the environment from construction.
Through collaboration and teamwork, Kaz & Associates and CP Construction staff have focused on a proactive common sense approach to the dynamic phases of construction and have maintained a high level of compliance. As the site conditions have changed, the team has focused on outreach and cost effective, simple modifications.
